The work
- The brief
- A curve cannot be bought off a shelf; it is framed to the opening.
- What was done
- GDE did the full job: framing, stringers, treads and risers, iron balusters, wood handrails, and the stone floor at the foot of the stair.
- The details
- The framing of a curved stair, seen from above on a plywood floor. A curved stair with a dark stained curved stringer, iron balusters and a pale wood handrail. Dark treads, white risers, scrolled iron balusters, a dark wood newel and a handrail that follows the curve. A star inlay of dark and pale stone in a polished floor.
